Here is my Interactive Narrative work. My main inspiration for my work came from looking at mallet girl, from a second year student at NTU. I also got inspired by looking at manga’s and different kinds of interactive anime games and puzzles. I also created my work bare handed i.e. I drawn all of it by myself.
The story
The story for my narrative is that you follow the life of a woman called Makka and on one quiet night she suddenly gets attacked by a hooded stranger. There are options which allow you to delve further into the story and finally figuring out who this hooded stranger might be. There are also options which lead you to cliff hangers and some options lead Makka to her death.

Light and Colour
Hey here is the light and colour essay which we was given and I hope you guys are happy in which I have fount out about the artist which I have chosen and my own take on altering light and colours using photoshop.
Richard Kenton Webb’s ladder painting is a very good example of the use of light and colour. He was able to use the correct amount of light and colour in each section of the painting to give different emotions and feelings i.e. the shaded areas gives you the feeling of sadness and regret whilst the lighter colours on the mountain surface
gives you the feeling of hope and passion.
Whilst Richard painted the ladder which resembles some sort of totem poll he had used a variety of colours which he had to make sure that they worked well with each other and didn’t interfere with one another. As you can see he used a blend of orange, blue and green on the face like features of the ladder and he also used the correct amount of light on the surface of the totem poll which worked very well and the combination of colour and light makes it a main focus point of the painting.
As for the colours he has used colours which give a rela
xing, calm and peaceful atmosphere towards this painting i.e. orange, green, blue and pink. Rather than using colours which give of a sad, dangerous and unpleasant atmosphere i.e. black and red.
Overall because Richard has used the right colours and the right amount of light on the totem poll and the surrounding area it has in some way created a
magical and a fantasy characteristic towards this painting, which in my point of view works really well.
Here I have changed the eye colour of the cat from a greenish tint to a more purple/red colour and in my point of view I think it makes the cat look more like a magical cat i.e. a cat with special abilities. Finally I slightly changed the colour of the cats fur so that it creates more of a focus point towards the eyes.
On this Image i decided to change the colour of the eyes to more of a brighter pink, so that I could express more using thefemales eyes and also increased the females hair colour so that its more of an in your face colour so that it stands out alot more and to also give a feeling of uniqueness and a magical apperance.

The Rule Of Thirds
The rule of thirds
The rule of thirds is used in photography and in filming and it allows you to get a better feeling in what is going on with the image i.e. it balances the image out and allows the viewer to interact with it naturally. It is said that using the rule of thirds makes the image easier on the eyes and creates a more in depth image so it appears more natural and more professional looking.
The rule of thirds is set out as two horizontal and two vertical lines which creates nine smaller boxers in which each become a focus point depending on the image being used i.e. rather than the center box being the main focus point any other sections can be the main focus point instead.
Example of the rule of thirds
Here you can see the how the rule of thirds is set out and how it shows the main focus point of the image of the wolf i.e. for me the main focus point is the first horizontal line which shows the wolfs eyes.
But there is also another focus point which is the first vertical line which shows the wolfs middle part of its face which in my opinion would be the main focus point for other people.
Example of the rule of thirds (not a very clear example though)

300 - 500 word essay on the Virtual World
For my research in multimedia technology I have chosen a simple but yet an amazing piece of multimedia which has and will change the way people will communicate for many years to come. I am talking about the virtual world; the virtual world is basically a reality world of our existing world but with more of an unrealism theme towards it. I think that the virtual world is more than just a place to communicate with your friends; it has many other useful and important features which companies all over the world can benefit from.
One of these features is being able to have a board meeting with thousands of people and although half of them may be on the opposite side of the world it can still be done with minor problems e.g. time difference. Another feature of the virtual world is that it can be used to teach children over the internet about Math, English, Science and other topics with an added fun factor so that the children wouldn’t get bored of learning and would keep them occupied for a lot longer than reading from a book.
Example of the virtual world is Second life
But with technology getting better each year the virtual world has improved a lot i.e. now it is possible to customize your avatar (your virtual world character) so that it looks exactly like you in every way e.g. age, skin colour, gender and different items to express your likes and dislikes.
So the impact that I believe has/will happen is by using these save and protected virtual worlds will create a unique and fun experience to have meetings with your employees and to also teach children about work which by reading from books would make them loose concentration and therefore make it a fun factor for them.
Here is an example of what lessons can be teached

Functioning well or is there more?
In most cases we want our belongings to do more for us than to actually function well. Take the Xbox 360 for example, we want it to offer a lot more, like giving us the opportunity to adjust the settings to allow custom control for individual users, customizable interfaces able to play computer games and HD DVD’s and to also allow us to communicate with our friends through voice chat or text. Than actually functioning well as a machine.
We are more willing to pay for things that cost a lot more if they have more compelling forms than thing that don’t have compeling forms, because the item with the compelling form will be better to physically look at and will be more temping for the customers to buy it. Examples of this are the comparison of the Xbox and the Xbox 360.
As you can see the black Xbox is pretty sweet to look at but its black and bulky form lets it down for some people of different ages and genders, whilst the Xbox 360 is white and has a slender form which makes it compelling towards many people of different ages and genders.

The first week
A little about me first...
Hey my name is Jamie but I dont like my name :P so I prefer to be called Jay. I live in Clifton which is about 30 minutes away from Trent so I live pretty close by, my favourite colour is black (yep you heard) I like metal and rock music and anime.
The First week
The first week has been interesting, with getting to know some people and also getting to know the tutors. The next few weeks should be interesting, with getting used to the paste of the work and meeting new people.
What do I want to get out of the course?
I would like to improve on my designing skills and to create better animations using 3DS Max and flash. I would also like to improve my skills on Zbrush, and overall I would like to increase my skills on creating characters for computer games and 3D animated movies.
What did I get up to in the first week?
In my first week I got to understand what will be happening with Trent University while I will be staying here, got to understand what events are offered to me and when I can take part in them. I also got talking to some new people and got to understand what they would like to get out of university.
Overall...
Overall I want to have an awesome time at University and get to know new friends :P
