Rollercoaster Animation
Here is my Rollercoaster animation that we had to do for Simon's assignment, I know that it is very fast but I couldnt figure out how to slow it down i.e. in the video render format.
Anyways here it is and I hope you enjoy.

Robot Animation
Here is my finished robot animation, I got the idea by watching a few episodes of robot chicken that involved an exploding pie. The robots walk animation is slow (keey frams are in the correct place) and I'm not sure what the problem is, but I will solve this issue over the holidays.
Anyways hope you enjoy :).

Diary for animation and 3D pipeline
Within the development of animation there is a lot to take in before you can actually become a full fledged animation developer, even an amateur animation developer. Simple tasks as animating a finger or arm can actually take a lot longer than you originally think and when problems occur it can become frustrating and annoying, but once it actually works the feeling of self satisfaction helps you to carry on with animation your product.
In the process of developing my animation and rigging each of the robots body parts, so that it could move like a human could, I realised the amount of effort and work is put in, into developing 3D movies and computer games i.e. due to creating a realistic look to the models. Which I thought to myself, I can become an animation designer, if I put all my effort and hard work into it.
As I mentioned before, it took me a fair few hours to understand on how to rig my model, so that I could animate it, which everything has to be linked correctly in the schematic view and most sections of my model needed to be linked to another section of the model i.e. torso or hip control, so that I could get a realistic movement control when making my robot walk.
I believe that I fit into the animation/3D development quiet well, because although a amateur of animating a model using rigging, I was able to grasp what needed to be done to make my model work correctly, along with how it should actually move compared to a human. I understand what it takes to become a professional animation designer, either for computer games or 3D movies, it takes time, hard work and a lot of testing before the final piece can be completed.
I will carry on developing and animating my work for university and in my free time, so I can become better at what I am doing and also learn more skills and techniques into animating models, either futuristic, human or creatures i.e. mammals.

Robot Arm Animation
Here is just a quick animation of the robot arm that I did in Andy's seminar today. It's just a quick animation, nothing fancy, but I will create much longer animations, using this arm, later on in the week.

Ice Age 3 review
Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs review
When Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs was released in the cinema, myself and some friends decided to go and watch it in 3D and my entire time watching it, was breath taking. In my opinion there isn’t any major difference between the 3D and none 3D versions of this movie, the only aspects that the 3D version gives is that it broadens the textures and details of the animals and surroundings of the environment.
I mainly paid attention to the textures of the animals fur/skin and the surroundings, which are very pleasing to the eyes, all of the animals were created with a unique texture and style of fur/skin, which in 3D you can properly see how much time and attention was put in, into creating the animals. It was inspiring to see such a broad range of animals and environments, from tall chubby to small slender animals and from bright calm to dark spine chilling environments. I was able to appreciate the time and effort that was put in, into developing this animation, a major point of this, is the movement of all the animals. Each of the animals movement looks realistic to animals which you would see today i.e. from the mammoths movement to an elephants movement and from a sabre tooth tigers movement to a tigers movement.
The movie is about a small group of animals that are living peacefully in the ice age, which when the story progresses, the snow/ice starts to get weaker and eventually breaks, which the small group of animals end up falling through and reveals a new world. When the story progresses, one of the animals in the group (the stupid one) ends up caring for some dinosaurs eggs, which he thinks he laid. The main story is about the group of animals finding a way back to the surface of their home and avoiding the dangerous along the way. There are many funny moments in this movie and also moments of sadness and moments which show how a family can get through the toughest of times together.
The movie script is well thought out, it keeps the audience on their edge of their seats and has well placed funny moments; too lighten up the tension when needed. The models, lighting, textures and dynamics are all designed perfectly and the visual of the movie is breathtaking.
Something that Andy Love mentioned in the seminar “films shouldn’t be made into 3D, unless they help the story line”. I can see why Andy said this, as I mentioned earlier there isn’t any major differences in the 3D and none 3D of this movie, but I believe that the 3D version, brought out the true detail and texture of the movie and made it very pleasant to look at.
In comparison to this movie, I also watched The Final Destination in 3D, which there was no reason at all to watch it in 3D, it doesn’t help the story line nor does it improve the quality, texture of the movie. They simply made it 3D it makes the death scenes look more dramatic and tense, not in any way to assist the storyline.
I would give Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs an 9/10 because although the 3D version doesn’t entirely help the storyline, but it does broaden the detail and texture of the movie, which are important aspects in movies.

Orrery Animation
Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I last posted anything on my blog, so here is my first piece of work of VE :D
We was given the task by Andy Love, to make an animating Orrery (if you dont know what that is, look it up) which the planets revolved around the sun. So here is my piece of work completed (although I think I could have done better) hope you enjoy it.
P.s. I know that one of the arms goes of cam slightly, my bad.

Brand new avatar
So I have been working on a new avatar design, seeing how my first avatar idea wasn't exactly amazingly good. So here is my new avatar, I am currently still working on it and hopefully I will be able to animate it blinking and looking around.
P.s. If your a fan of Futurama you should see were I got my idea for my avatar from.

It's been awhile...
Hey guys, as the title says, its been awhile since ive posted anything on my blog, but lately I have been very busy with uni work and other things. Well I have finished my fifth idea for my identities, which is a mech (following the sci-fi theme)and here it is.
This is it before I started to edit the colour and texture of it.
And here it is fully finished with colour and texture added to it, but I am still unsure about animating it i.e. making it fire the missles on its arms... I will decide later on, anyway thats all so far, I will keep you updated as soon as I can.

Just an update of my identities, I have nearly finished my logo and basically I am kinda stuck on what to do for it now. I could add colour but this might ruin the whole tribal sign theme.
Anyways here it is.

Identities container
I just had a thought whilst I was looking around for idea's for my container. Basically I thought of using a games controller for my container, due to the fact that it would help show my identity i.e. because I like playing computer games. I had the idea of setting each button to go to different paths which overall sums up my identity.
Here is an example of what I could use as an container.

Just an update (virtual world)
So after messing around with my sci-fi virtual world I decided to add an orb like light on top of the tower, which in my opinion works pretty well due to the fact that it adds more of a sci-fi characteristic to my virtual world.

My fourth design idea (out of the total five)
I have decided to make a virtual world for my fourth design identity out of the total five. Ive chosen a virtual world because I am really interested in how game designers create and present the virtual world on such games as World of warcraft.
So here is an example of my virtual world... It isnt exactly done yet but you will get the idea that I am trying to get a feel of a sci fi enviroment. I will also be adding some generators (which will glow) to get a better feel of a futuristic enviroment.

Identities Questionaire (using my friends identity of me)
So I had the idea of getting some input of what my friends think of me and see if it matches my self identity of me. By doing this I can see if I am on the right track for my self identity and it also lets me see new identities of me, which I might have not seen of myself.
"He is a big fan of computer games, anime, drawing and music" This is true I have always been into these things since I can remember. Ive always like playing computer games and love watching anime, as for the drawing and music, ive enjoyed these for a very long time now... But sadly I have had much time to draw like I used to.
"He likes any red, black and silver i.e. clothing and objects" This is also true, im not entirly sure why I specifically like these colours but for as long as I can remember Ive always liked these colours.
"He likes tribal signs and markings" I wouldnt say I like tribal signs but I do find them very interesting and pretty cool looking.
"He can express himself more through actions than words" This I think is true, Im not one for verbally expressing myself but I do find that I can better express my self through actions e.g. designing something rather than talking about it.
So as you can see, these are a few identities that my friends have of me (there are more but they are to lazy to tell me what they are) and they are pretty much correct identities. So hopefully this will help me and you to better understand myself.

Change of design

After having some trouble designing my first mech avatar (after trying and trying) Ive come to a conclusion that I am going to redesign my mech and its apperance.
So here is just an hand which I have created and in my opinion dosent look quite bad (still more to do to it though)

Example of avatar work
I have started to create my mech avatar on 3DS Max and Ive started to create the armored pads and other stuff, but they arent worth showing at the moment. Anyway here are the pads (which arent finished yet i.e. no detail has been added yet)

Identities Avatar
So I have had some idea's for my avatar and Ive come to a conclusion that my avatar is not going to represent me but rather represent the things I like i.e. mech's (human controlled robots)
Here are some examples of what mech's are and what im working towards to.

Some examples
Here are some quick examples of what my logo might look like. Ive chosen these type of logo's (tribal) because I have always been into the whole tribal marking's and art and by doing my logo as a tribal marking, I think that this will show my personal identity very well.

I have used second life and other online communities for awhile now and here are a few things that I find interesting in the area of self identity and things that just aren’t in the category of self identity.
Second life
Although these aren’t my avatars, I came across them on second life and thought it was interesting to see how creative people can be in creating an avatar not based on their own self identity but rather on their alter ego and creative minds.
Whilst I was on second life I thought I would show how good its self identity features can be for someone that is basing their avatar on themselves. Here you can see how you can customize your avatars height, torso, eyes and what type of clothing you can wear, which in my opinion is a really good feature for people creating avatars based on themselves and based on their alter egos.![]()
Whilst strolling around town I came across three girls (that were just chatting away) and thought how unique their avatars looked i.e. their skin colour, clothing and hair colour. Also I noticed how well designed the town was, from the music store where you can actually listen to the latest songs and the supermarket (at the back on the right) were you can buy clothes, shoes, posters and other fun and funny looking objects.
Here I came across a private party (which somehow I got invited to) which was pretty fun, different aged people talking about things that everyone could join in on i.e. the latest movies which they have seen.
While I am at it I might as well show my current avatar, nothing special really just based my avatar on what kind of clothing I like, the hair style that I thought looked pretty cool and the beard... well that’s just a little added feature.
I don’t get the whole flying thing though; it is a strange feature to have on a community website. Although I guess it beats walking everywhere.
I found this interesting on a person’s profile; basically it’s what they look like in real life and also their avatar in second life. In my opinion this is a really good example of how you can show yourself identity onto an avatar.![]()
This is a really good feature in second life, which is to watch movies on anything that is being shown in the cinema theatre. I find this a good feature because it will keep second life users occuoied and will prevent them from getting bored.

SSP seminar
Tuesday's seminar we did alot of talking about our assignments and what we should and shouldnt be doing. But a major point that came up was how to better yourself in the area of study you will be choosing and here are my thoughts.
My area of study I want to do virtual enviroments (3D modelling) because I enjoy designing models in my own time and therefore I would like to take this even further. To better myself in this I will carry on designing 3D models in my spare time and also try to use new design software such as Zbrush.
I have thought about the other two areas of study, but they just dont seem like the things I would enjoy doing.
