In most cases we want our belongings to do more for us than to actually function well. Take the Xbox 360 for example, we want it to offer a lot more, like giving us the opportunity to adjust the settings to allow custom control for individual users, customizable interfaces able to play computer games and HD DVD’s and to also allow us to communicate with our friends through voice chat or text. Than actually functioning well as a machine.
We are more willing to pay for things that cost a lot more if they have more compelling forms than thing that don’t have compeling forms, because the item with the compelling form will be better to physically look at and will be more temping for the customers to buy it. Examples of this are the comparison of the Xbox and the Xbox 360.
As you can see the black Xbox is pretty sweet to look at but its black and bulky form lets it down for some people of different ages and genders, whilst the Xbox 360 is white and has a slender form which makes it compelling towards many people of different ages and genders.
